The key to having an expandable & upgradeable system is the motherboard, case & power supply. I have spent many hours researching motherboards, video cards & other components to give you a system that is expandable, upgradeable & compatible with components you might add well into the future and at the same time giving exceptionally fast operation while remaining stable. Name brand, off the shelf computers are in my opinion, disposable.... when it comes time for a major upgrade in CPU and memory, you find out you can't go far enough to be of any practical use. Therefore, to upgrade a mass market off the shelf computer, you go to home depot and get a bag of cement and 3 feet of chain and upgrade it to a boat anchor!

note: AMD CPU's are just about 30% faster per GHz than the Pentium CPU's, so don't let the slower clock speed fool you. The best way to compare speeds is to look at the model # of the AMD like "ATHLON 64 3200+" to determine that it compares to the Pentium 3.2 GHz CPU in the appropriate class.
